Sylvia Schumacher



Sylvia Schumacher is the principal lawyer at Schumacher Law, specializing in wills, estates and trusts law. She brings a unique background and skill set to the practice of law. Her business background informs her approach to the practice of law: providing timely, practical and strategic advice using plain language. 

Prior to establishing her own firm, Sylvia was a prosecutor for the Ontario Securities Commission, then moved into private practice at a boutique law firm in downtown Toronto. 

Prior to her legal career, Sylvia spent over 15 years in progressively senior roles in industry-leading corporations. Her career started in marketing research, culminating as the Vice-President of Strategy and Research for a marketing strategy boutique serving clients across North America. Subsequently, she ran a sole proprietorship as an executive recruiter, placing senior executives in corporations across Ontario. She continued to run her executive recruiting business full-time throughout her first two years of law school. 

Sylvia holds a J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School, an M.Sc. in Political Theory from the London School of Economics, an M.A. in French from Middlebury College in conjunction with the Université de Paris X – Nanterre, and a B.A. in French Language and Literature from the University of Western Ontario – Huron College. 

Sylvia has been called to the Bar of Ontario.
